About Us

Cold Norton Pre-School is a committee run Pre-School with charitable status. We provide high quality, sessional care for children from the age of 2 until they start primary school. We are registered with Ofsted and, as such, receive regular inspections. We are also registered with The Department For Education and are members of The Early Years Alliance.

Our Pre-School opened in 1966 and is located in Cold Norton Village Hall. We are extremely  lucky to be located in a large park with a huge, enclosed playing field that we use year-round. We go with the children on walks through the park and nature reserve area to learn about the natural world, and to observe changes in the seasons - collecting interesting items for our nature table. The children love the freedom of exploring on our walks, and playing games like 'We're Going On A Bear Hunt' in our wooded area.

The aim of our Pre-School is to ensure that each child :

  • Can reach their full potential

  • Is in a safe, secure and stimulating environment

  • Has the chance to join with other children and adults to play and learn together

  • Is helped to progress in their learning by building on what we know and can do

  • Has a key-worker who are able to form a 'meaningful attachment' to, and who will monitor and progress their learning

  • Is In a setting that sees parents as partners in helping each child learn and develop

  • Is in a setting in which parents help to shape the services it offers

Our overall aim is to help all children become well-balanced, happy members of society and to give them a good start for their school years ahead.
