Cold Norton Pre-School is a committee run pre-school with charitable status. We provide high quality, sessional care for children from the age of two, up to the time they start primary school. We are registered with Ofsted and, as such, receive regular inspections. We are registered with The Department for Education and are also members of the Pre-School Learning Alliance.
Our pre-school opened in 1966 and is located in the Cold Norton Village Hall, next to enclosed playing fields. Cold Norton is a small village near the town of South Woodham Ferrers (5 minute drive) and the historic town of Maldon (8 minute drive). We have close links with the local primary school.
Our aim is to enhance the development and education of children under the statutory school age in a parent-involving, community based group. We provide a safe, secure and stimulating environment and work within a framework which ensures equality of opportunity for all children and families.
We aim to ensure that each child:
is in a secure and stimulating environment;
is given generous care and attention, because of our ratio of qualified staff to children, and volunteer parent helpers;
has the chance to join with other children and adults to play, work and learn together;
is helped to take forward their learning and development by building on what they know and can do;
has a key person who makes sure each child makes satisfying progress;
is in a setting that sees parents as partners in helping each child to learn and develop; and
is in a setting in which parents help to shape the services it offers.
Our overall aim is to help all children become well-balanced, happy members of society and give them a good start for their school years ahead.
