Committee

Did you know that Cold Norton Pre-School is purely Committee run?

The committee is made up of parents (and grandparents/carers) who look after the day-to-day running of the pre-school and organise fund raising events.

As we are a charity, fund raising is essential to enable us to continue to provide the high quality standard of care, education and resources for the children's development.

Fund raising events can include:

  • Christmas party and production

  • Seasonal half term parties e.g. Halloween fancy dress, Easter egg hunt

  • Coffee Mornings for parents/carer

  • Leaver’s fun day

  • First aid courses for parents

  • Summer fete

  • Teddy Bear's Picnics

  • Sponsored teeth cleans and walks

Past fund raising events and donations have enabled us to:

  • Build the secure outdoor play area

  • Run Pre-school trips and events

  • Purchase new equipment

  • Arrange external fun visitors for the children (animal encounters etc.)

The finances of the pre-school can be split into two parts. The first is the routine running costs, which are partially covered by government funding and fees.  These running costs include the staff wages, the rent of the hall, insurance and general administration costs.

The second part of the cost is for the equipment, furniture and play/educational items, which are essential for a stimulating and enjoyable learning environment for the early years.  These costs have to be met entirely through fundraising.

Our informal committee meetings are held every 4-6 weeks and are a good chance for busy parents/carers to catch up and have a chat, as well as have a say in how the pre-school is run.  Without sufficient people to make up the committee, the pre-school would unfortunately be forced to close.

We are always appealing for new committee members. If you would like more information and become more involved in how the pre-school is run, please speak to any member of the committee or staff.
